Stoelzel joins Music for All and Bands of America 2007
Summer Symposium/trumpet faculty.
Richard will be performing at the International Trumpet Guild
Conference at the Univ. of Mass. 2007. He will be performing on
the New Music recital, The Music of James Stephenson recital and
the Festival of Trumpets.
The GVSU Trumpet Ensemble has been invited to perform at the
International Trumpet Guild Conference at the Univ. of Mass.
2007
Stoelzel has finished recording a CD with the Grinnell wind
ensemble under the direction of Mark Dorr. The CD features works
by composer James Stephenson and Eric Ewazen, newly arranged for
trumpet solo and band. Watch for sound bites on this website.
Richard Stoelzel will be recording two new CD's this summer.
One will be with the fabulous soprano, Phoebe Fennell. This CD
will feature music of the Baroque. The following CD will feature
many new works mostly composed for Stoelzel. Composers Robert
Bradshaw, James Stephenson and Erik Morales will be represented.
Stoelzel's former CD, BORN TO BE MILD, has been warmly received
and has been played on radio stations world wide. Sound bites
will be featured on this website.
The third annual GVSU international trumpet Seminar will be
July 22-29th. This years featured guest artists will include
international soloist Vince Dimartino, Matthias Kamps Principal
trumpet Berlin Opera, Zhonghui Dai Principal Trumpet China
National Symphony and Central Conservatory Beijing, Wim Van
Hasselt The World Brass and Berlin Radio orchestra, Dorival
Puccini GVSU artist faculty, Jean Morehead Libs Concordia
College and free lance trumpet artist and Richard Stoelzel GVSU
artist faculty and international trumpet soloist, Principal
Trumpet Palm Beach Opera Orchestra. Composers James Stephenson
and Erik Morales will be composing new trumpet ensemble works
for this event. It promises to be the best summer seminar in the

The second annual GVSU Trumpet Seminar will be July
23-30th. Trumpet Teachers include Richard Stoelzel, Dorival
Puccini, Jean Libs and SPECIAL GUEST, VINCE DiMARTINO. Rebecca
Wilt will be the Seminar Pianist. The Seminar is for High School
and College trumpeters. Advanced Middle School students will be
considered. This will be an outstanding week of learning and
performing. Don't miss this fabulous seminar. Space is limited

TWO NEW CD's to be released soon. A Chamber CD will be
released on June 20th. Rich recorded two new solo's with
the Grinnell band in May. The CD will be released summer of
2006.

CONGRATULATIONS GVSU TRUMPET SOLOISTS: Robby McCabe 3rd
Place, Jon Ruffer 4th place, Jeff Lewandowski 6th place. Three
of the Six finalists in the competition were GVSU students. WOW!

RECITAL REVIEW

DORIVAL PUCCINI has been named to the Artist Faculty
Trumpet at Grand Valley State University. Dorival is a former
student from GVSU and Professor Stoelzel. Professor Puccini
received his Masters in Performance from the Juilliard School Of
Music where he studied with Mark Gould, former Principal Trumpet
with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Professor Puccini will be
a welcome addition to the award winning GVSU trumpet studio.
The first annual GVSU Trumpet Seminar has been a great
success. 12 students participated. Numerous mini
recital/masterclasses were given by Artist Faculty/ Professor
Richard Stoelzel, Jean Libs and Dorival Puccini. Participants
performed as soloists and in trumpet ensembles coached by the
faculty. The final concert featuring each student as soloist and
ensemble performer, was outstanding!! We are all looking forward
to the 2006 GVSU Trumpet Seminar!! Be sure to look at the photo
